Diagnosis and quotation are free and carry no obligation. Following evaluation you receive the identified fault, the recoverable scope as far as it can be determined, an expected turnaround and a fixed price. No recovery work starts until you approve that quote in writing.
If no data is recovered, no recovery fee is charged. This applies to the recovery fee itself. Where a case requires donor parts, specialist consumables or third-party services that have been quoted to you and approved in advance, those may be chargeable regardless of outcome, and this will be stated in the quote rather than added afterwards.
"Recovered" means data delivered and verifiable by you during the verification session described below. Partial recoveries are quoted and agreed on their actual scope.
Before an invoice is raised you are given a verification session, remotely or on site, showing the recovered file list so you can confirm it contains what you needed. If it does not, you are not obliged to proceed.
Every case is handled under non-disclosure. Access to case data is limited to the engineers assigned to it. We do not examine recovered content beyond what is technically necessary to perform and verify the recovery, and we do not disclose that you are a client without your written permission.
Recovered data is delivered on fresh encrypted media, or by another method agreed with you. Our working copies are retained briefly after delivery so that a redelivery is possible if something is wrong with the first one, then sanitized to standard. Ask for a specific retention window or immediate sanitization after delivery and we will confirm it in writing. Case records such as the case ID, device details and work performed are kept for business and audit purposes. Recovered content is not.
Recovery outcomes depend on the condition of the media and on what has happened to it before it reached us. We do not guarantee that any particular file or volume is recoverable, and we say so before taking a case where we believe it is unlikely.
We do not break encryption. Where data has been encrypted by ransomware, recovery is performed from shadow copies, snapshots, backups, unencrypted remnants and partially encrypted files. Decryption is only possible where the strain has a known flaw, a published decryptor exists, or the key can be supplied or recovered. Any lab telling you otherwise is not describing the mathematics accurately.
By submitting media you confirm that you own the data or are authorised to instruct recovery of it. We may decline or stop work on a case where that is in doubt, or where the content encountered obliges us to act otherwise under applicable law.
We do not sell enquiry data, and we do not pass it to third parties for marketing.
You may ask what enquiry data we hold about you and ask for it to be deleted, subject to any records we are required to keep. Contact hello@digifixr.com. [Privacy contact and applicable state privacy rights to be confirmed.]
These terms may be updated. The version applying to your case is the one in force when you approve the quote, and material changes will not be applied to a case already under way.
